Business and Human Rights (7 September 2017)

Over the past few years, a priority of the European Union Commission has been to tackle breaches of human rights by EU corporate commercial actors (both within and outside the EU) and access to justice.

In this context, the Business and Human Rights panel assessed inter alia the challenges for victims and problems faced by practitioners, producing lively discussion. During the panel, emphasis was placed on the rule of law and the need for the right to a fair to be meaningful for both those whose human rights have been breached, and companies who are responsible for upholding human rights, if they were to accept the law.

While progress had been made, panellists acknowledged certain challenges must be addressed to further the law.
