The Stockholm Centre for Commercial Law (SCCL) was set up at Stockholm University in 2000 in light of the significant and ongoing research on the development of commercial law which was being carried out at the University’s Law Faculty. The SCCL’s main focus is the promotion of research and research education in the field of commercial law.
Another of its core aims is to bridge the gap between legal practitioners and academic researchers, and to this end the SCCL regularly organizes seminars where experts from both disciplines can freely exchange ideas.
The Centre is governed by a Council under the chairmanship of Professor Jan Kleineman, one of the initiators of the Centre. There is also a Board of Directors, chaired by Johan Gernandt, and a Special Committee, also chaired by Professor Kleineman. About 30 full time scholars are doing research within the SCCL.
