One of the core aims of the ELI is studying and stimulating European legal development in a global context through publications and a strong presence and relation with the media. Thanks to the media and to the ELI members, the Institute has become a landmark institution in the European legal system.
ELI Projects (Instruments and Statements) gather the knowledge and expertise of a wide range of legal experts from academia, the judiciary, governments, legislatures and other vocations from all over Europe who will exchange information and best practices in diverse legal fields.
These activities lead to publications which will be usable directly (e.g. as draft rules or model contracts) by legislative bodies, judiciaries, or other interested parties. The publications will mainly improve the knowledge of lawyers, but also other European citizens, in the respective field of law and at the same time raise awareness among the legal community regarding the most important issues in civil law matters. Although its work is mostly addressed to the European legislator and the judiciary system, the main beneficiaries of ELI’s work will ultimately be the general public, the legal and natural persons of Europe, who will be able to enjoy a better quality of law.
