Interns – Law and PR (Paid)

Please note that due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, paid and unpaid internship positions will not be available at the ELI Secretariat until the end of the year 2020.

The ELI offers paid as well as unpaid internships.

A paid internship at the ELI Secretariat in Vienna is available from May/June to September/October each year (but for a maximum period of 4 months). Unpaid internships are available the year round.

An internship at the ELI Secretariat is the perfect opportunity for a candidate with a law degree or a student in the final stages of his/her legal studies (or a closely related field) to gain insight into the management of an international organisation which works towards the improvement of lawmaking across Europe. Please note that the tasks are heavily administrative.

Interns will have the opportunity to work with staff at the Secretariat on a number of tasks, including the organisation and running of the Annual Conference and Meetings which takes place in September in Vienna or abroad. The Conference brings together around 400 participants and is attended by renowned legal experts from Europe and beyond. Interns also support Project Teams. We are looking for candidates with:

  • A law graduate or a student of law (or a closely-related field) in the final stages of studies
  • Excellent knowledge of English (other languages will be an asset)
  • Enthusiasm, reliability and an ability to work independently
  • Excellent computer skills (knowledge of specialised programmes such as InDesign and Photoshop will be an asset)
  • Experience in project, event management and/or work experience in international organisations are beneficial

Tasks include:

  • Involvement in preparation and post-production of Annual Conference and Meetings (eg liaising with speakers, PR activities, writing reports, compiling Conference materials, drafting invitations)
  • Involvement in preparation of various smaller Conferences and similar events
  • Assisting Project Officers in the administrative coordination of ongoing ELI projects
  • Assisting the Secretariat in providing administrative support to ELI Hubs and Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
  • Helping the PR Officer produce the regular Newsletter and offering other PR-related support such as contributing to the administration of the ELI website and social media sites (eg Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook)

Paid interns receive EUR 500 (gross) per month and full health insurance benefits. Should you be interested, please submit a CV and cover letter to the ELI Secretariat by no later than April of each year for the paid positions.
