ELI Austrian Hub Held a Lecture on Antitrust Law

12.12.2022

On 12 December 2022, the ELI Austrian Hub held a workshop entitled ‘Need for Change in Antitrust Damages Law?, as part of the ‘Monday Seminar Series’. The event took place at the University of Innsbruck and was organised by Univ-Prof Dr Susanne Augenhofer, LL M (Yale).

With the Antitrust Damages Directive of 2014, the European Union aimed to strengthen antitrust enforcement and to sanction corporate infringements accordingly. After several years of experience of the Directive, a reevaluation of this European legislation seemed appropriate.

Prof Christian Kersting, LLM, Yale (Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf) spoke alongside Dr Katharina Kolb (Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein LLP, Munich) about the status and perspectives of antitrust damages law. They also analysed problems and made reform proposals for the current legal situation.
