ELI Austrian Hub Held a Lecture on Supply Chain Accountability

16.01.2023

On 16 January 2023, the ELI Austrian Hub held a workshop entitled ‘Verantwortlichkeit für die Lieferkette: Was bringt uns Brüssel?’, as part of the ‘Monday Seminar Series’. The event took place at the University of Innsbruck and was organised by Univ-Prof Dr Susanne Augenhofer, LLM (Yale).

The event was dedicated to the current issue of supply chain responsibility: do large corporations have to monitor not only their subsidiaries but also external contractors to ensure that there are no human rights violations or environmental damage in their supply chain?

Prof Dr Martin Winner (Vienna University of Economics and Business) and Prof Dr Anne-Christin Mittwoch (University of Halle-Wittenberg) discussed the most recent EU directive proposal on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence as well as the Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz (Supply Chain Due Diligence Act), which came into force in Germany on 1 January 2023.
