Principles for a Data Economy Project Meeting in Vienna

The Reporters of the ALI-ELI Principles for a Data Economy project met in Vienna with members of the Advisory Committee (AC) and Members Consultative Committee (MCC) on the ELI side on 3 September 2019.

The meeting that took place at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna ahead of the ELI 2019 Annual Conference focused on revised Preliminary Draft No 2bis. The latter takes on board guidance received after the joint meeting with ALI and ELI Advisers, the ALI’s Members Consultative Group (MCG) and the ELI MCC members in Philadelphia on 22 February 2019.

This includes scrutiny undertaken by the Berlin based tech-company acs-plus GmbH, suggestions from the industry, inspirations gained at a meeting hosted jointly by UNCITRAL and French governmental institutions in Paris on 15 March 2019 as well as at the 52nd UNCITRAL Commission session of 17 July 2019 in Vienna, among many others.

Preliminary Draft No 2bis will, following guidance from the 3 September meeting in Vienna on and that received at the ELI Annual Conference panel on 4 September 2019, be amended, following which Preliminary Draft No 3 will be prepared.
