Two Types of Institutional Membership

Fellows and Observers

  • Institutional Fellows and Observers must be legal entities representing organisations, institutions or networks, which are actively involved in European legal development. An institution is free to opt to be a Fellow (with voting rights) or an Observer (without).
  • The annual Membership fee is subject to individual negotiation. Non-profit organisations contribute upwards of EUR 250 per year. The minimum fee set forth by the Statute in the case of businesses and advocacy groups is EUR 500 per year. For law firms, this fee is higher but includes the Membership of three partners. However, the specific fee depends on size and is subject to individual negotiation.
  • In accordance with the ELI Statute, the Council determined that the institutions listed in Council Decision 2011/9 as amended by Council Decision 2018/5 shall be exempt from paying an annual Membership fee.
