Albert Ruda is an Associate Professor in Private Law at the Universitat de Girona (Spain), where he has been serving as Dean since 2016. Ruda is a founding member and Chair of the Spanish Hub (with M. Kubica), which has won the ELI award twice, and Chair of the ELI SIG on Global Private Law (with A. McNaughton). Further, he is a member of the Institute of European and Comparative Private Law (UdG) and the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law (ECTIL, Vienna) as well as a research fellow at the Utrecht Centre for Accountability and Liability Law (UCALL), and he is also a member of the Institute for Brazilian Liability Law (IBERC) and the Institute of Ibero¬American Law (IDIBE). Ruda is a former Van Calker scholar of the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law (Lausanne) and a former scholar of the Japan Foundation (Ryukoku University, 2019); a member of the Centre de droit économique et du développement (Université de Perpignan). He is a collaborator of the Séminaire conjoint Université Paris I Sorbonne-Université Catholique Louvain-la-Neuve and has been a member of the Catalan Codification Commission since 2009. Ruda has authored or co-authored more than 150 works mainly on tort law, contract law or property law. He previously served as an ELI Council member and on its Membership Committee (2013-2019).
