Prof. Dr. Francisco Javier Jiménez Muñoz is Full Professor of Civil Law at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), Spain, where he teaches Civil Law and EU Civil Law and currently serves as Deputy Director of the Department. He holds a European Doctorate in Law (cum laude, with the Extraordinary Doctorate Award) and a Master’s degree in European Law.
His research focuses on the harmonisation of European private law, the law of obligations (particularly interest and usury), and assisted human reproduction. He is a member of the European Law Institute (ELI), the Society of European Contract Law (SECOLA), the Common Core of European Private Law project, and the Ibero-American Law Institute. He is also a Corresponding Member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Legislation and Jurisprudence and currently serves as Secretary-General of the Institute for the Development and Study of Spanish Family Law (IDADFE).
Prof. Jiménez Muñoz regularly participates in international conferences and seminars. His primary areas of academic interest include European private law harmonisation, obligations, and family law.
He served on the ELI Council and its Membership Committee (2015–2019, 2021–2025) and has been co-chair of the Family and Succession Law Special Interest Group (SIG) since its creation. He is also a member of the Members Consultative Committees (MCC) or Advisory Committees of several ELI projects.
