Susanne Augenhofer has been a full Professor of Law at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, since 2020. Prior to her appointment in Innsbruck, she was a Professor of Law at Humboldt University in Berlin, as well as at the University of Erfurt (Germany).

She served as a Visiting Professor at LUISS (Rome, spring 2025), at Yale Law School (spring 2020 and fall 2025), at NYU School of Law (2018) and at Columbia Law School (2016). She studied law in Graz and Vienna (Austria) and the Università Statale di Milano (Italy) and conducted research as an academic visitor at the MPI for Comparative and International Private Law (Hamburg, Germany), the London School of Economics (United Kingdom) and as a Jean-Monnet-Fellow at the European University Institute (Florence, Italy).

 

She was a Fulbright scholar at Yale Law School (USA, LL.M., 2003) and a Yale-Fox-Fellow at the Free University Berlin (Germany, LL.M., 2004). She has advised the EP and the EC on various issues regarding European consumer law and its enforcement and, in 2021, she was elected to the Advisory Group on Consumer Policy of the EC. Since 2025, Augenhofer has been a member of the Board of the newly established Wissenschaftliche Vereinigung für Verbraucherrecht (Scientific Association of Consumer Law).
