Sylvaine Poillot Peruzzetto graduated in French literature (Bachelor, 1979), psychology (Bachelor, 2014) and law (Phd Paris II, 1986). She started her career in 1986 as a lawyer in Paris (Jeantet law firm) and continued as a lawyer in London and Southampton. She was a French assistant in law at King’s College London from 1987–1988. She became an in-house lawyer for Michelin in 1989. She passed the French competitive examination of agrégation in law in 1993 and became professor in law. She worked at the University Toulouse 1 Capitole until 2015, where she taught European law, competition law and conflict of laws. From 2008 to 2015, she was elected Vice-President for international relations at this University and founded the European School of Law. In January 2015, she became a judge for the French Supreme Court (Cour de cassation) in the commercial chamber specialised in EU competition law and EU private international law.

She has been Co-Chair of the French Hub of ELI since January 2023 and a member of the board of the Société de législation comparé.

In 2020 and 2021, she organised a series of conferences at the Cour de cassation on the function of the judge in the EU. She is organising a new series of conferences on judicial practices that contribute to effective justice.
