Doris König

Doris König is a Professor em of Public Law, European Union Law and International Law at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg. From 2012 to 2014 she served as Dean of Bucerius Law School. Since June 2014, she served as Justice at the German Federal Constitutional Court, Karlsruhe. From 2020 to 2025 she was Vice-President of the GFCC

She studied law at Kiel University from 1975 to 1980. In 1981/82 she participated in a post-graduate study programme at the University of Miami School of Law, gaining the post-graduate degree of Master of Comparative Law (MCL). In 1989 she completed her doctoral thesis, in 1998 her post-doctoral thesis on the transfer of sovereign rights within the framework of European integration. Her main research interests are in the field of constitutional law, international human rights law, international law of the sea, and European Union law.
