The European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA) is an association of defence lawyers from Council of Europe Member States. Our aim is to reflect the views of criminal defence lawyers, and to promote the administration of justice and human rights in the Member States of the Council of Europe and among the peoples of the world.

The two pillars of our activities are contributing to improve justice and building a strong community of professionals dedicated to defence work and sharing a common dedication to the improvement of fundamental rights.

At the ECBA, a vibrant community of independent legal minds from diverse backgrounds comes together at our biannual conferences, on-line events and collaborative working groups. This promotes both professional growth and strong networking, but also informs our advocacy work through input for policy.-making bodies and intervention as third party or amicus curiae.
