The workshop, which aimed at discussing the project and its next steps, was opened by Anne Sanders and Steen Thomsen, Reporters of the ELI project, as well as Mark Ørberg, the Project’s Assistant and First ELI Vice-President and Assessor of the project, Anne Birgitte Gammeljord.

This was followed by a presentation from Colin Mayer (University of Oxford) on enterprise foundations and corporate purpose.

Participants discussed the legal definition of enterprise foundations, the policy case for enterprise foundations and a survey on enterprise foundation law in European countries.

In addition, presentations on enterprise foundations in different European jurisdictions were held. Sabrina Dupouy (Aix-Marseille University) and Marie Eude (University Sorbonne Paris Nord) presented the situation in France, Anne Marie Weber (University of Warsaw) in Poland, Andrea Meijomil (University of the Basque Country) in Spain and Christiaan Stokkermans (Erasmus School of Law) in the Netherlands.
