Prominent speakers from Europe, Asia, and the United States gathered for the Digital and Sustainable Futures Conference, a two-day event hosted by the at the University of Manchester. The conference, organised under the kind invitation of Prof Orkun Akseli (University of Manchester), focused on the evolving role of digital assets, particularly within the financial sector.
ELI President, Prof Dr Pascal Pichonnaz, presented key elements of ELI’s Principles on the Use of Digital Assets as Security and ELI President-Elect, Prof Dr Teresa Rodrigues de las Herras Ballel, introduced the recently adopted ELI Principles and Guidance for Enforcement Against Digital Assets. Their contributions underscored ELI’s pivotal role in providing regulatory initiatives in this emerging field.
Additionally, ELI Council Member, Prof Dr Matthias Lehmann, addressed the legal dimensions of verified carbon credits and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
The conference kicked off with an engaging keynote by Prof Richard Susskind, who discussed the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the legal profession.
