ELI had the honour of welcoming a distinguished delegation from the People’s Procuratorate of Beijing, China, during their visit to Vienna.
The delegation comprised prominent legal figures including Zhang Yukun (Chief Prosecutor, the Second Branch of the People’s Procuratorate of Beijing), Cao Jing (Director, Criminal Execution Procuratorial Department of the People’s Procuratorate of Beijing), Zhang Ting (Director, Major Crime Procuratorial Department of the People’s Procuratorate of Beijing), Song Hongying (Permanent Member of Procuratorial Committee, The Fourth Branch of the People’s Procuratorate of Beijing) and Liu Jianghai (Officer, General Office of the Second Branch of the People’s Procuratorate of Beijing).
Tomasz Dudek, ELI Senior Project Officer, and Marta Lages de Almeida, ELI Project Officer, delivered a comprehensive presentation on ELI’s mission, activities, and ongoing projects, which sparked considerable interest in the Institute’s role in legal reform, particularly regarding how its work has been shaping legislative developments at both national and EU levels.
ELI Co-Reporter, Prof Dr Lorena Bachmaier Winter, led the presentation on ELI’s Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and the Council on Mutual Admissibility of Evidence and Electronic Evidence in Criminal Proceedings. The presentation was followed by a lively discussion with participants, focusing on the practical challenges of cross-border evidence exchange.
