High Level Expert Group Meeting on the Recognition of Agreements Resulting from Mediation


On 29 November 2021, ELI held a High Level Expert Group (HLEG) meeting on the Recognition of Agreements Resulting from Mediation. Leading experts considered the scope of a prospective ELI project in the field.

ELI President, Prof Dr Pascal Pichonnaz, welcomed the participants and gave a brief introduction of ELI, ELI High Level Expert Group (HLEG) meetings and their aims.

Participating experts then discussed the on-going work by other organisations in the field, namely the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the Council of Europe’s European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) and the European Commission, as well as legal issues arising in their respective fields and countries. They also considered the scope of a potential future ELI project, including legal aspects to be covered and the methodology to be adopted, among other things.

They were joined by Jonathan Haddad (UNCITRAL) and by Katja Kolman (ELI Senior Project Officer).

ELI is immensely grateful to the participants for their valuable ideas and reflections, which will be further consolidated and then considered by the ELI Executive Committee.
