AI and Public Administration: Project Team and Advisory Committee Meeting

27.10.2021

On 27 October 2021, the Project Team and Advisors of the ELI project on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Public Administration – Developing Impact Assessments and Public Participation for Digital Democracy convened remotely for a final consideration of the revised draft Model Rules.

The Project Team presented the overall structure and aim of the Model Rules, which deal with an impact assessment of algorithmic decision-making systems used by public administrations. This was followed by a fruitful discussion with the project’s Advisors, during which participants considered the Model Rules on an article-by-article basis. Participants focused among other things on the relationship of the Model Rules and the AI Act, proposed by the European Commission earlier this year, as well as definitions used in the Model Rules.

The text will be evaluated by the project’s Advisory Committee and Members Consultative Committee by mid-November 2021 and then submitted to ELI bodies for their final considerations and votes.
