ELI President Prof Dr Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell and ELI Secretary General Dr Vanessa Wilcox attended the symposium and Festschrift presentation held in honour of Prof Dr Marianne Roth. As part of the programme, Prof Dr Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell delivered a festive lecture on the development and recent challenges of civil justice.
The event, which celebrated the 65th birthday of Prof Dr Marianne Roth, LLM (Harvard), was opened by Prof Dr Bernhard Fügenschuh, Rector of the University of Salzburg, and Prof Dr Martin Auer, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Business, among others.
The symposium brought together leading representatives of the legal and academic communities, including Prof Dr Katharina Boele-Woelki, Chair of the Commission on European Family Law (CEFL), and Prof Dr DDr h.c. Klaus Mainzer, President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
The Festschrift provided an opportunity to recognise Marianne Roth's distinguished contributions to legal scholarship and to the work of ELI. Among her many contributions to ELI's activities, she served as Austrian National Correspondent for the ELI project Empowering European Families: Towards More Party Autonomy in European Family and Succession Law. It was also a pleasure to see so many ELI members and friends gathered to celebrate her achievements.
The Festschrift was formally presented by co-editor Prof Dr Hubertus Schumacher, former President of the Supreme Court of Liechtenstein, and publisher Mag Jan Sramek.
ELI extends its warmest congratulations to Marianne Roth on this well-deserved honour and milestone.
