ELI President, Prof Dr Teresa Rodríguez Heras de Ballell, spoke on the ‘Future of Collateral: Pathway to Digital Secure Lending’ panel at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR, China.

The event was organised by UNCITRAL, in partnership with the Asian Institute of International Financial Law (AIIFL) and the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong.

The agenda reflected the growing importance of adapting legal and regulatory frameworks to an evolving financial landscape, with particular emphasis on how new tools and technologies are reshaping collateral systems and access to credit. The conference also served as a platform to begin exploring possible updates to the UNCITRAL Model Law on Secured Transactions and other relevant texts.
