On 29 October 2025, the Chair of the ELI Guiding Principles on Seizing Sanctioned Assets project, Sir Geoffrey Vos (Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice in England and Wales, ELI First Vice-President), met Reporters, Dr Illia Chernohorenko (University of Oxford), Prof Dr Burkhard Hess (University of Vienna), Prof Dr Krista Nadakavukaren Schefer (University of Basel), and Prof Dr Philippa Webb (University of Oxford) to officially kick off their work.

Participants discussed the structure and focus of the forthcoming output and agreed on next steps. The team decided to develop a practical and user-friendly flowchart as the main component of the output, supplemented by a set of Guiding Principles and concise commentaries.

A kick-off webinar to present the preliminary results is planned for early 2026.
