Guidance on Company Capital and Financial Accounting for Corporate Sustainability Project Presentation

24.11.2022

ELI’s draft ‘Guidance on Company Capital and Financial Accounting for Corporate Sustainability’ was presented in the framework of the 5th International Conference on European Company and Corporate Governance on 24 November 2022.

The conference, themed ‘Corporate Purpose in the Digital Era: Towards Revisiting the Directors Duties and Liabilities’, took place online on 24–25 November 2022 and was organised by the Department of Law at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics and Business, in partnership with the ELI Business and Financial Law SIG, Croatian Chamber of Economy, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Croatia, with support of the ELI Croatian Hub.

The panel discussing the draft ELI Guidance was organised by the ELI Business and Financial Law SIG and chaired by Yuri Biondi and Corrado Malberti, Co-Reporters of the ELI project.

Corrado Malberti welcomed participants and provided a general introduction, which was followed by a presentation of the project and the draft Guidance by Yuri Biondi. Project Co-Reporter Colin Haslam then shared further perspectives on responsible equity management and sustainable business conduct with reference to EU and UK experiences.

Ana Ježovita, Project Team Member, presented an empirical analysis of the situation in Croatia, in particular share capital maintenance in large Croatian groups. The presentation was based on a case study that she prepared with Hana Horak with a view to contributing to the project’s background research.

The session was followed by a closed meeting of SIG Members.
