The Hub was originally launched in 2013. In response to renewed interest and strong encouragement from ELI, steps are now being taken to reinvigorate the Hub and build a dynamic platform for collaboration among UK-based ELI Fellows and stakeholders.
The re-launch meeting will begin with registration and refreshments from 16:00, followed by the formal programme at 17:00, and will conclude with a wine reception at 19:00. The event will feature a welcome by Professor Richard Ashcroft, Dean of the City Law School, and keynote presentations by Sir Geoffrey Vos, Master of the Rolls, and Dr Pascal Pichonnaz, President of ELI.
The second part of the event will focus on the timely and evolving topic of Third Party Litigation Funding. Presentations will include:
- Dame Sara Cockerill on the recently adopted ELI Principles on Third Party Litigation Funding;
- Professor Eva Lein on the BIICL Mapping Study prepared for the European Commission;
- Dr John Sorabji on the Civil Justice Council's June 2025 survey of the field.
Following the formal proceedings, attendees are warmly invited to a networking wine reception, and selected guests will join the Chairs and Advisory Board members for an informal dinner nearby.
This event marks the beginning of a new chapter for the ELI UK Hub, with additional meetings already in the pipeline, including:
- A virtual seminar on Product Liability in December 2025 or January 2026;
- An in-person conference on Digital Assets at BIICL in spring or early summer 2026.
We look forward to welcoming ELI Fellows and friends to this important occasion and to building a vibrant UH Hub that contributes actively to the work and mission of the European Law Institute.
