Lecture in Vienna on Europe After Crimea

05.05.2014

On 5 May 2014, the Austrian Hub organised an event where Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, spoke to ELI Fellows and local students at a lunchtime event at the University of Vienna Law Faculty.

His lecture was titled 'Europe After Crimea: What Future for the Rule of Law in Europe?'. Jagland spoke about the current crisis in Ukraine from a unique perspective, having just returned from the region where he was involved in successful talks to orchestrate the release of Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) military observers who were being held hostage in Slovyansk in Eastern Ukraine.
