Digital Law SIG Co-Organises Berkeley Transatlantic Conversation

25.06.2025

The discussion will take place on 25 June via Zoom at 17:30 CEST.

Join us for our next Berk/ELI Digital Law SIG Transatlantic Conversation on Consumer Protection Law jointly organised by the Digital Law SIG and the Center for Consumer Law & Economic Justice at the University of California, Berkeley.

The event will focus on the topic of ‘dark patterns’ (aka ‘deceptive patterns’, ‘harmful online choice architecture’) which plays a key role in the European Commission’s considerations for a future Digital Fairness Act.

The conversation will be led by Martins Prieditis (Deputy Head of Unit B.2 ‘Consumer Law’; Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers, European Commission), Patrycja Gautier (Head of Consumer Rights, BEUC – The European Consumer Organisation), Samuel AA Levine (former Director, Bureau of Consumer Protection, Federal Trade Commission), and Colin Gray (Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University Bloomington).

After remarks from each speaker, the floor will open for questions from the Zoom audience.

Please RSVP via the registration link by 24 June 2025 to receive the Zoom link.
