SIG of the Year Award

09.09.2020

The ELI ‘SIG of the Year’ Award for 2020 has been awarded to the Digital Law Special Interest Group (SIG).

The announcement was made in the evening of 9 September as part of the 2020 Online Annual Conference. The Awards ceremony also saw the announcement of the ELI Young Lawyers Award and ELI Hub of the Year Award.

The Digital Law SIG is currently chaired by Alberto De Franceschi and Christoph Busch.

In the past twelve months, the Digital Law SIG has hosted several valuable events. In December 2019 a two-day conference on ‘Contracts for the Supply of Digital Content and Digital Services’ was organised in Milan, and in April 2020 a ‘Digital Lunch Talk’ series was launched. The first talk was given by Oreste Pollicino from Bocconi Law School and was entitled ‘COVID-19 Tracking Apps: Balancing Public Health and Data Protection’. The series continued in June with Professor Florian Möslein from Marburg University giving a talk on ‘Virtual Shareholder Meetings: Driven by COVID-19 and Blockchain Technology?’

On accepting the Award, the SIG Co-Chair Christoph Busch commented ‘This Award goes to a group of ELI Fellows working in the field of Digital Law, it is a great privilege and a pleasure to chair this group of fantastic people together with my dear friend and esteemed colleague Alberto De Franceschi.’
