21.06.2022

On Tuesday, 21 June 2022, the fifth in a series of webinars on ‘The Application of the EU Succession Regulation in Member States’ organised by the Subgroup of the ELI Family and Succession Law SIG took place.

Panellists from Cyprus (Achilles Emilianides), Finland (Tuulikki Mikkola), Greece (Haris P Pamboukis and Giorgos Nikolaidis), Italy (Domenico Damascelli) and Sweden (Michael Bogdan) shared information on the application of the EU Succession Regulation in their Member States, focusing on issues of the importance to private international law, the national implementation of the EU Succession Regulation, and the European Certificate of Succession. In particular, the focus was on the issue of a register for the European Certificate of Succession, the different issuing authorities for the European Certificate of Succession and the possible reasons for the low amount of court cases concerning the EU Succession Regulation. The webinar highlighted the different and common difficulties in the practical application of the EU Succession Regulation in Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Italy and Sweden.

This webinar marked the conclusion of the series of webinars on ‘The Application of the EU Succession Regulation in the Member States’.

The organisers would like to thank all the panellists for the fascinating and insightful presentations and discussions, as well as the attendees for their interest.
