Family and Succession Law SIG
The ELI Family and Succession Law SIG was established in mid-2015 and is currently chaired by Elena Bargelli, Francisco Javier Jiménez Muñoz and Ilaria Pretelli.
In September 2021 the SIG established a sub-group on Succession Law, which is chaired by Gregor Christandl.
The SIG focuses on, among others: the enforcement of family rights (custody of children); matrimonial property regimes; surrogate motherhood; the presumption of death; transgenerational distribution of assets; and the acceptance of jurisdiction in private international law.

Publications
The Family and Succession Law SIG supported and contributed to 'The Interaction Between Family Law, Succession Law and Private International Law: Adapting to Change' book, published in 2020 by Intersentia.
Developments in National Jurisdictions
Members of the SIG are invited to share developments in the area of family and succession law that took place in their jurisdictions. This could be, for example, information about a new legislation, or a landmark judgment.
