Lance Liebman

Lance Liebman is the William S. Beinecke Professor of Law Emeritus and Dean Emeritus at Columbia Law School. His research and teaching focus on employment law, property law and social welfare law. He served as Dean of Columbia Law School from 1991 to 1996 and subsequently led the Parker School of Foreign and Comparative Law for almost 20 years. From 1999 to 2014, he served as Director of the American Law Institute, and prior to joining Columbia, he was a professor at Harvard Law School for 21 years. He also served as a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Byron White.
