Walter Doralt

Professor Dr Walter Doralt holds the Chair for Civil Law, European Private Law and Comparative Law at the University of Graz (Austria). He was previously the Senior Research Fellow responsible for France at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg (Germany) (2009-2017).

 

Walter Doralt is Austrian and studied law at the University of Vienna (Mag 2001, Dr 2005) and in Italy (Catholic University of Milan, 2000). He has been a Visiting Professor at Bocconi University (2008) and has worked at the University of Oxford (Law Faculty, Institute of European and Comparative Law/St Catherine's College, Max Planck Fellow, 2007/2008). He has been a lecturer at Bucerius Law School (2013–2017). His post-doctoral thesis (Habilitationsschrift) is on the topic of Long-Term Contracts (2017, Bucerius Law School, Hamburg) and has been published with Mohr Siebeck ("Langzeitverträge", 2018). Prof Doralt is admitted to teach civil law, company and commercial law, comparative law, private international law and the economic analysis of law. He is a founding member of the ELI and has served on the Council since 2011. For several years he was Chairperson of the ELI Membership Committee.
