Admissibility of (E-)Evidence: Hybrid Project Team and Advisory Committee Meeting

11.07.2022

On 11 July 2022, the Project Team and Advisory Committee of the Admissibility of E-Evidence in Criminal Proceedings in the EU project met in Vienna and remotely.

The meeting was opened by the Project Reporters, Lorena Bachmaier Winter and Farsam Salimi, who presented the draft EU directive on mutual admissibility of evidence and of e-evidence in criminal proceedings, which is being developed by the Team, as well as the next steps of the project.

This was followed by a fruitful discussion with the Project Team and Advisory Committee, during which the draft was further refined. Participants considered among other things the subject matter and scope of the draft directive as well as discussed general principles on admissibility of evidence, the admissibility of e-evidence and remedies.

The Project Reporters will revise the draft in the coming weeks in light of the helpful comments received. The project will also be presented in the framework of the ELI Annual Conference on 7 September 2022 in Madrid.
